Aside from drowning in the music of some local artists and rock bands like Parokya ni Edgar and Eraserheads, Ed Sheeran has become my favorite pastime since college. Paramore, Vertical Horizons, One Ok Rock, Nirvana, and many others were with him. And just like any fangirl, it is totally a dream come true when you get the chance to meet your favorite artist in person.
You can only imagine the excitement and happiness I felt in October last year when it was announced that this red-haired British guy would hold his concert in the beloved capital of my country. I could cry because of happiness. However, because of work and some unavoidable circumstances, I failed to go to the concert held yesterday, March 12, 2015. It’s sad, and it hurts deeply. So what I did was get drunk and drown myself. Yes, I got drunk on his songs and drowned in them.
It’s sad when you can’t actually do what you really want. However, I’m still optimistic that I’ll see him someday. Probably not now, but soon. So, to cover up this sadness, I got drowned again. Of course, not in the waters but again into his songs.

Ron Weasley? Harry Potter? Is Rupert Grint and Ed Sheeran the same? Well, some of those who are unfamiliar with this British singer will probably mistake Ed for Ron. Why not? They both have reddish hair and some notable features.

Though this song was made known to many people by Sam Smith, believe me, you’ll fall more deeply in love with Ed Sheeran with this version of this song. (My perspective only. HAHA)

Does the title ring a bell? Does it sound like the movie Fault in Our Stars? Well, no worries. This song actually belongs to the list of soundtracks for the movie written by John Green.
Small bump
The song tells a moving story about the excitement of a father waiting for his wife, who’s inside the delivery room. However, the anticipation of the said father suddenly broke into pieces when it turned into a miscarriage. Some sources say that this actually happened, not to Ed but to his friend.
I’m mess
Feeling sick and tired of everything? Well, Ed shares the same sentiments with you in this song. A perfect complement to those times when nothing works accordingly in your life
Drunk
Some people drink to wash away all their sorrows. However, they didn’t know that sorrows knew how to swim. The song tells about a person who just ended a relationship with a beloved and decided to get drunk to be able to handle the pain. The song made more people interested because of the video in which Ed and a cat were featured.

Ed does not look like your typical rocker or musician. He dresses up like a total nobody. No flair, no sense of fashion. However, he only proves that one does not need to flaunt for his music to be heard. This is what he wants to share in this song. For him, he looks more or less like a university student than a musician. The song evolves into a love story that revolves around a university.

He really has a thing for prostitutes. Can’t explain. But the way he sings proves that you don’t need to be forceful to express your thoughts and that love can happen even at the most unexpected time, place, and person.

Favorite song. :) There were rumors that this song was actually meant for Ellie Goulding when Ed found out about her affair with Niall Horan. No formal statements were given. However, this is, for me, his greatest hit. Why? Just listen to it, and you’ll come to wonder how cursing about bad luck or a bad day sounds so sweet when he sings it. It’s like listening to “Fuck You” by Lily Allen, but in a much sweeter and calmer version—English people perks probably.
Thinking out loud
It’s probably one of those songs that you can’t help but get LSS to and fall in love with. Well, that’s pretty normal. Who wouldn’t fall for someone who wants to spend infinity with you? The song sounds so cool to listen to as well. It is believed that this song was inspired by his current girlfriend, Athina Andrelos.
