Author’s Note: You can skip the first two paragraphs. They are useless and overly dramatic for an introduction.
You’ve been warned. For the past years, I have always been certain about what I’ll be doing and where I’ll go for the summer. However, this year is an exemption. With the number of close friends following other trails in life, I was left with no choice but to deal with summer alone. The initial plan was to trek to some newly-discovered hiking destinations in my hometown; however, the universe has prepared a different plan for me. Out of a random chat conversation, I found myself getting booked on a place that was never listed on my “to-go list”. And much to my surprise, I found myself in a territory which I’m not really fond of – the beach.
I have nothing against the seas, the shore, and the seashell. I just easily get bored with the melodious sound of the wave, the salty breeze, and the sun’s direct heat. Unlike the mountains, I don’t usually feel the usual pounding of my heart and my heavy breathing. It’s too calm. And for someone whose attention span would last for nearly five minutes, it’s difficult not to get bored. But you see, that time, upon sitting down on the sands and getting myself bored with the sails and waves, I realized how fast-paced I have tracked my life. It’s like somebody’s always chasing after me. Ninja trips over the weekend. Beating the deadline. Waking up early and getting home late. Everything is in a hurry. Probably this is the reason why the universe brought me to this unfamiliar territory, my road less traveled – to keep calm and live life.
Too dramatic for an introduction. Here’s my list of beaches you should not miss in the Visayas area!
Bantayan, Cebu

Anda de Boracay, Bohol

Salagdoong Beach, Siquijor

Alobijod Cove, Guimaras

Cuatro Isla, Southern Leyte

Apo Island, Negros Oriental

Sambawan Island, Biliran

White Beach, Boracay

Marabut, Samar

Pulupandan, Carles, Iloilo

Hope you’ll enjoy beaching the way I did. Don’t forget to bring your trash along with you. Mother Nature has been taking a lot of stress from us, let’s not add to it. See you on trails? Or on seas.
