There are days when everything would seem to perfectly fit the puzzle – waking up on the right side of the bed, arriving on time at work, greetings from your boss, and everything else working so smoothly.
I know, for someone who’s cramped with all the deadlines, this sounds absurd; but I guess there are just days when life, for no apparent reason, suddenly becomes so good to you. So how do you deal with this?
It was quarter to five in the afternoon when Grethel, a long-time colleague, noticed how mesmerizing the rays of the setting sun were that day. Upon realizing this, like B1 and B2 of Bananas and Pajamas, our minds clicked the way they dropped that “Naiisip mo ang ang naiisip ko” segue. In an instant, a photoshoot has been executed. Our colleagues were even supportive enough to provide artificial flowers and a rainbow-paneled umbrella to add more colors to the photographs captured.
True indeed, the setting sun provided beautiful natural lighting which made the task even more exciting. Added with angle, choreography (echos… HAHAHA), and props, the results were totally IG-worthy (on my standards HAHAHA.)
Of course, eventually, the night took over. The darkness filled the perfectly shadowed areas so then we concluded the afternoon’s session. But more than the captured images, I was happy with the experience. It was short but punched hard enough. Had we not taken such an opportunity, we won’t be able to witness such loving grace on those daunting days of submissions and finishing some requirements, develop a sense of camaraderie, and practice photography and choreography (kaartehan) skills. HAHA.
These days, the dream of a happily-ever-after seemed strangely far from reality, most especially when the tasks at hand are overly demanding and urgent. But I guess we can as well take time to pause and smell the flowers – to look for opportunities to be happy.
The sun might always be there but it’s not every day that you are blessed with a beautiful sunset, it’s not every day that you get to see and experience the sunset. It’s not every day that your colleagues would work together to support your crazy thoughts. It’s not every day that your mood will cooperate to enjoy even the simplest and humblest sources of joy.
What we have is a very short lifetime, might as well make the most of it, right? Right.
Wishing you happy days ahead. See you on trails!
