I’m no fanatic, but I believe that it’s also healthy to take a break from the local scene from time to time and indulge in foreign shows as well. This way, we get a multicultural perspective of how people in other places live and see how uniquely diverse we are.

K-dramas have become a part of the lives of many Filipinos. Thanks to its attractive visuals, feel good music, great actors, and creative story plot, more and more have become a fan of these dramas. As it provides a window to the other world, K-dramas have also allowed us to see a glimpse of the wonderful destinations around the planet that we have not known otherwise. With stunning filming locations, our dreams of traveling around the world have been duly fueled.

Legend of the Blue Sea is a fantasy story of the mermaid (Jun Ji Hyun) who went to Seoul in order to find the man (Lee Min Ho) that she has loved all through her lifetime. She tried living the normal life of a human being and developed a romantic relationship. This series tells one of the classic historical tales of South Korea about a fisherman who captures and releases a mermaid.

  1. Memories of Alhambra

Memories of Alhambra is a mystery-action drama about an augmented reality game starred by Hyun Bin and Park Shin Hye. In his aim of developing an AR game, the CEO, Hyun Bin flies to Spain in order to test and buy the game. He then later found out that the game’s contract was tied to Hostel Bonita which is owned by Park Shin Hye. However, twists and turns of events led to the death of his business partner. Hyun Bin is now forced to finish the game quest to fix the game’s bug and prove his innocence from the death of his business partner.

Encounter tells the story of the hotel CEO, Song Hye Kyo, and free-wheeling photographer, Park Bo Gum. The two got into an unexpected whirlwind romance of the sun-washed islands and alluring sunset. However, the two had to face the reality of their obvious mismatch in the public eye when they get back to South Korea.

Doctor Stranger is another film set to have showcase the lives of people in North Korea. This tells the story of the genius surgeon, Park Hoon who planned to escape to South Korea with his girlfriend. They’re plan goes awry when Hoon was the only one who successfully crossed alone. Because of certain circumstances, he was hired as a surgeon in Myungwoo University Hospital where he meets the anesthesiologist, Han Seung-hee, who looks exactly as his girlfriend in North Korea. Doctor Stranger tackles numerous genre throughout the rest of the story like political corruption, assassination, medical drama, and revenge.

  1. Terius Behind Me

Terius Behind Me is an action comedy drama that tells the story of an NIS secret agent, Kim Bon (So Ji Sub) who kept a low profile in South Korea in order to dig the conspiracies happening in the NIS. During his investigation, his life got complicatedly involved with his single mother neighbor Go Ae Rin (Jung In Sun) whose husband mysteriously died. Later on, their unimaginable team up resulted to solving a huge political conspiracy in the government.

  1. Are you Human Too?

Location: Czech Republic

Are you Human Too? is a sci-fi romantic drama about a robot (Seo Kang Joon) who was created in order to impersonate a chaebol heir who was in coma at the time of a corporate power struggle. However, he later on learns more about being human and discovers who he really was.

  1. The K2

Location: Spain

K2 is a Korean drama about a bodyguard (Ji Chang Wook) who dedicated his whole life for his country but was betrayed by it. As a form of revenge, he got involved with a woman (Yoona) who was a secret daughter to a presidential candidate. The story centers on political conspiracy, revenge, and love.
